Peaceful is a meditation app built for one person, Arthur, and the few people he shares it with. It runs on his own drawings and sounds, keeps time with the screen locked, and nothing it records ever leaves the phone.

There is no account and no sign-in. Sessions, notes, quotes and voice recordings stay on the phone, and quotes can be saved to a file, so a collection survives a new phone.
Arthur meditates with the phone face down, so sound carries the session and the screen only sets it up. The bells ring on time, even with the phone locked.
Arthur drew every screen himself and sent three rounds of notes. Where two rounds disagreed, the later one won, so the app follows him instead of a template.
The whole app is one picture: a band of sky, a wavy edge and water below. Day and night swap the two blues on their own, and Settings can pin either one.
Arthur drew the icons by hand. They went into the app without redrawing a line, keeping the sizes he had balanced by eye.
Fish cross the water, bubbles rise and one cloud passes the sun at a time. During a session the sun only swells, slowly, so nothing pulls at your attention.

1. TimerPick the minutes and the bells, then Let's go.

2. BreathingAny pattern, with a sound for each breath.

3. SoundsNature, healing frequencies and instruments, all at one volume.
Arthur drew the app before a line of code existed. This is his sketch next to what is on his phone today.
